On Saturday, February 10 the Ambassador of Colombia, His Excellency Camilo Reyes and Mrs. Gloria Ritter de Reyes hosted THE LATIN LOVERS SOIREE, a sensational Valentine's Day-themed dance for teens and adults to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2018 "Student of the Year" Campaign.

 

The event was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Colombia, the stunning Thomas Gaff mansion on Dupont Circle, and featured a performance by ALI STONE, the award-winning DJ and singer/songwriter who opened for Justin Bieber's Purpose World Tour and was named one of Billboard's "Top 5 New Artists to Watch".

The evening will also include a sumptuous dessert buffet, mocktails and cocktails, dancing a silent and live auction including a trip to Cartagena and more! The event is being organized by the LLS Hearts of Gold Student Team (Carolina O'Leary, Stuart Powell, Ben Freeman, Sophia Trone, Francesca Cetta, Lily Brady and Ford Brugger).

It was the kind of day that would have made Willie Hughes smile from ear to ear.  The weather was perfect for the more than 800 attendees as they participated in sporting and family-friendly activities across the welcoming campus of Mater Dei School in Bethesda, Maryland.  The guests enjoyed food hot off the bbq and grilled to perfection by Mater Dei’s President, Ned Williams, and Headmaster Billy McMurtrie, and were entertained by live musical performances including Georgetown’s acapella singing group, Sean Gaiser , Mommy’s Little Helper, and Mater Dei’s own 8th grade band, Long Lost Cousins.
